Peace is Life
Peace is life, Peace is forgiveness
Which rises above sightless hatred
In millions of angry minds
As reaching out to understand an ancient
Spoken word long forgotten
Among humans.
Crying out in thousands of tongues, the
Yearning is here
Today
For lasting peace with
No judgment, but acceptance
Of differences which make us
Unique
As nations or as a single soul
Walking along on a sandy beach
To let a kite go to the blue skies high
Above the gentle waves listening to the
Soft sounds of the winds and children’s laughter
Nearby
And dreaming of the world where
People are able to
Live side by side as good neighbors with no
War cry and death from smart bombs
And exploding grenades on
Street corners where an ice cream
Cart with a vibrant umbrella used to
Stand.
Peace is life, Peace is forgiveness
In billions of hearts the wish
For better days emerges, a new dream to live,
To love,
To work, to build healthy nations
And raise a family.
Hope for a new day dawning, to take the next breath
With no fears of straying bullets
And bad feelings the daily news brings about
Lost fathers, mothers and children,
Which haunts us every day and
Forces us to mourn, to lament,
To weep, to barter with a prehistoric curse
In collective global
Helplessness.
Peace brings life to everyone
Like a bright sun rises above the horizon
With warmth and a flower will be held
By tiny fingers, not shrapnel which was found
On the playground somewhere
In the desert
Near a ruined school house,
The tiny fingers are reaching high
To try to touch a silvery white bird which
Soars
High above and stretches its wings of compassion
Over planet Earth.
